Scanning, Part 2

At our May meeting, Mike Vance will continue his program on scanning. Do you know how to e-mail scans, insert into documents, make copies for friends, and restore old pictures?
Scanners come in many types and prices. For the average person, a mid-range one will be a good addition to your system. You will be disappointed in the cheaper ones and unless you plan to do a lot of copying, the all-in-ones will cover most of your needs.

Who is This?

Can you guess who is on the horse in this seventy-year-old black and white photo? It was taken with an old plate camera.
Would a picture taken with a modern digital camera and printed with an ink jet printer or saved on a CD have lasted that long?

Charles F. Mize President's Notes

There will be elections this year (as if you didn’t know). The elections this year could be among the most important in history. There should be a large turnout on May 4.
Lincoln County has a good web site for making your trip to the ballot booth easier.
To start, go to http://www.lincolncounty.org/ and click on departments, elections, election events, and sample ballots. You can download ballots for the Democrats, Republican, and Libertarians or Independents.
Complete the sample ballot after reading up on the candidates, and use it to speed up completing the official one (Sample ballot itself cannot be used.) Early voting is now available at the Elections office until May 1. Voting at precincts will be May 4. Results will be posted on the site.
