Scanners

The first copier was a bald-headed monk working in the basement of a monastery. He used a quill pen and home-made ink. PETA complained about the toll on geese so Chester Carlson invented the Xerox machine. This evolved into the scanner, and we now have multi-function machines that can scan, fax, copy, and print.
Mike Vance will demonstrate the basic uses of a scanner at our April meeting.
Handouts will be available covering the history, types of scanners, and reviews of top models.

Movie Mistakes and More

Have you even noticed a goof in a move? You know, a character goes in a room with an eye patch on his left eye and when he comes out, it's on the right.
I recently saw one about this flight of WWII airplanes in 1947 where the pilots were wearing the modern molded helmets, which weren't invented until the advent of jet planes.
This site shows a number of goofs, and you can also submit some that you find. http://www.moviemistakes.com/
(Note: site has an abundance of commercials)
The International Movie Data Base is the best source of movie information. www.imdb.com.
Fandango is the place to go to find which movies are playing now and all about any movie ever made. Looking to see if a movie is on TV? You can find it here. Just scroll to the bottom of the page. You can also buy tickets here to avoid standing in line.
To find the official rating for a movie, go to http://www.mpaa.org/FilmRatings.asp This is the official site of the Motion Picture Association of America.
If you just want to see the trailers for a movie, go the Cinemarv site. http://cinemarv.com/
The cheapest place to rent a movie is the Red Box Kiosk system. They have over 22,000 locations nation wide. Rent a movie at one site for $1.00 and return at any other location. http://www.redbox.com/

Charles F. Mize President's Notes

Like to make desserts? Cookies, cakes, … brownies, cupcakes? For several years the secretary has provided refre refreshments for CUGOL as well as taking notes for the minutes. It would make the secretary's job easier if we rotated providing refreshments. For those willing to help, we will develop a rotating schedule at the next meeting (April 10).
